Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of human Melanoma inhibitory activity protein 2 (MIA2) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. The assay is reactive with human samples and detects both natural and recombinant MIA2. Listed synonyms include CTAGE family member 5 ER export factor, Meningioma-expressed antigen 6/11, CTAGE5, MEA11, MEA6, MGEA11, and MGEA6. The research area is cancer, and the kit is intended for research use only.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.176ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 7.3%, and an inter-assay CV of 10.7%. Linearity across dilutions 1:2 to 1:16 (N=5) is 88-120% for serum, 88-112% for EDTA plasma, and 99-112% for heparin plasma. Recovery averages 94% (range 88-100%) for serum and 96% (range 90-102%) for plasma.

MIA2 belongs to the MIA/OTOR family and may serve as a marker of liver damage, with a role in the pathophysiology of liver disease. The protein is implicated in the transport of cargos too large for COPII-coated vesicles from the endoplasmic reticulum, the secretion of lipoproteins, pre-chylomicrons, and pre-VLDLs, and may contribute to cholesterol and triglyceride homeostasis. It is also required for collagen VII (COL7A1) secretion. UniProt accession is Q96PC5 and the molecular weight is 74,089 Da.
