Description

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Melanoma-associated antigen 1 (MAGEA1) in human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay is reactive with human samples and recognises natural and recombinant human MAGEA1. Synonyms associated with the target include Antigen MZ2-E, Cancer/testis antigen 1.1, MAGE-1 antigen, CT1.1, MAGE1 and MAGE1A. The kit is supplied for research use only and is relevant to cancer research.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.625-40ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.326ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is 5.9% and inter-assay precision is 8.7%. Recovery in serum averages 101% with a range of 95-107%, while plasma recovery averages 103% with a range of 97-109%. Linearity is reported across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions, with serum ranges of 88-98%, 94-105%, 96-108% and 90-100%, EDTA plasma ranges of 101-110%, 86-96%, 99-109% and 92-105%, and heparin plasma ranges of 97-107%, 100-109%, 101-113% and 100-112%.

MAGEA1 is a tumour antigen expressed in a variety of tumour cells and in the testis, and is recognised on melanoma by autologous cytolytic T-lymphocytes. It may be involved in transcriptional regulation through interaction with SNW1 and recruitment of histone deacetylase HDAC1, may inhibit notch intracellular domain (NICD) transactivation, and may play a role in embryonal development and tumour transformation or aspects of tumour progression. The protein localises to the cytoplasm and nucleus, making this kit a useful tool for studies into melanoma biology and potential targeted therapies.
