Human Melanocortin receptor 4 (MC4R) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie's Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the accurate detection of Melanocortin receptor 4 (MC4R), also known by the synonym MC4-R, in human samples. The assay is reactive with human MC4R and is intended for research use only, with applications in cardiovascular research.

MC4R is a G-protein coupled receptor specific to the heptapeptide core common to adrenocorticotropic hormone and alpha-, beta-, and gamma-MSH. It plays a central role in energy homeostasis and somatic growth, signalling through G proteins to stimulate adenylate cyclase and generate cAMP. The protein is localised to the cell membrane as a multi-pass membrane protein, is listed under UniProt accession P32245, and has a molecular weight of 37kDa. Defects in MC4R are a cause of autosomal dominant obesity.

Quantitative performance includes a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.12ng/ml. Intra-assay CV is 4.5% and inter-assay CV is 8.2%. Linearity in serum spans 91-119% across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions, with EDTA plasma at 87-118% and heparin plasma at 86-114%. Recovery averages 100% (94-106%) in serum and 102% (96-108%) in plasma. The kit accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, and detects both natural and recombinant human MC4R.
