Description

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of human MDH2 (mitochondrial malate dehydrogenase) in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. It uses a double antibody sandwich detection method and offers a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL with a working range of 0.313–20 ng/mL. MDH2 is a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyses the reversible oxidation of malate to oxaloacetate via the NAD/NADH cofactor system in the citric acid cycle and plays a pivotal role in the malate-aspartate shuttle that coordinates cytosolic and mitochondrial metabolism.

Reported performance characteristics include an intra-assay CV below 8% and an inter-assay CV below 10%. Recovery has been validated in serum (average 93%), EDTA plasma (average 98%) and UFH plasma (average 98%), with linearity demonstrated across serial dilutions in the same matrices. The kit is intended for research use only and the microplate components are stored at 4°C for up to six months.

Dysregulation of MDH2 has been associated with cancer, metabolic disorders and neurodegenerative conditions, making this kit a useful tool for research into mitochondrial function, metabolic disease and related pathways. The target corresponds to UniProt entry P40926, with the human ortholog located on chromosome 7cen-q22, and falls within the metabolism research area.
