Human Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) ELISA Kit

MMP9 (also termed gelatinase B or 92 kDa type IV collagenase) is a zinc-dependent endopeptidase that cleaves denatured collagen (gelatin), type IV and V collagens, and a range of chemokines and cytokines. Because of its central role in extracellular matrix remodeling, it is widely studied in oncology, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, periodontal disease, preeclampsia, and chronic wound biology.

The reagent set from Assay Genie includes a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized recombinant MMP9 standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer concentrate, and substrate solution. Components should be stored refrigerated upon arrival; reconstituted standards and streptavidin-HRP must be aliquoted and frozen at -20°C to preserve activity, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The assay is intended strictly for in vitro research use only and is not approved for diagnostic procedures.

Typical applications include quantifying secreted MMP9 in conditioned media from primary cultures or cell lines stimulated with pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, PMA), profiling enzyme release in tumor invasion and angiogenesis models, and assessing matrix turnover in tissue homogenates. Each microplate run provides standard curves for absolute concentration calculation, and parallel quality controls are recommended for inter-assay comparison.
