Human Matrix Gla protein (MGP) ELISA Kit

A sandwich-format immunoassay from Assay Genie, this kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of matrix Gla protein in human samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It supports research into cardiovascular health, where matrix Gla protein acts as a key regulator of vascular calcification and helps maintain the structural integrity of blood vessels by preventing calcium deposition in the vascular wall.

Specificity is reported for natural and recombinant human Matrix Gla protein (UniProt P08493). Reported performance characteristics are a detection range of 39-2500pg/mL, a sensitivity of 20pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 7.1% and an inter-assay CV of 10.9%. Linearity has been demonstrated across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16, with serum recovery averaging 103% (range 97-109%) and plasma recovery averaging 105% (range 99-111%). Matrix Gla protein is associated with the organic matrix of bone and cartilage and is thought to act as an inhibitor of bone formation. Dysregulation of MGP has been linked to cardiovascular conditions such as arterial calcification and atherosclerosis, making it a biomarker of interest in vascular research.
