Human Major prion protein (PRNP) ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Assay Genie, the Human Major prion protein (PRNP) ELISA Kit is a Sandwich-format immunoassay for the quantitative measurement of PRNP in human samples. The kit is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and shows reactivity for human analytes.

Quantitative performance figures, as reported by the manufacturer, include a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.19ng/mL. Precision data list an intra-assay CV of 5.6% and an inter-assay CV of 10.6%. Linearity has been assessed across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 in serum (93-107%), EDTA plasma (88-106%) and heparin plasma (93-109%), with N=5 for each matrix. Recovery averages 99% (range 91-106%) in serum and 98% (range 92-108%) in plasma. The kit is reported to detect natural and recombinant human Major prion protein (UniProt P04156).

Major prion protein is implicated in transmissible spongiform encephalopathies and prion-related neurodegenerative conditions, including Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, fatal familial insomnia, Gerstmann-Straussler disease, Huntington disease-like type 1 and kuru.
