The kit uses a colorimetric, double-antibody sandwich detection method and is intended for use with serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples.

The assay has a stated sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a range of 0.313-20 ng/mL. Reported recovery values average 95% for serum (range 93-98%), 100% for EDTA plasma (range 96-102%), and 96% for heparin plasma (range 88-103%). Linearity across 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions is reported as 85-99%, 85-105% and 88-105% for serum, 86-98%, 89-93% and 84-89% for EDTA plasma, and 82-96%, 81-95% and 86-99% for heparin plasma.
