Human MAG (Myelin Associated Glycoprotein) ELISA Kit (HUES01562)

This Assay Genie sandwich ELISA kit enables quantitative measurement of human Myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It detects both natural and recombinant human MAG, with a stated detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.036 ng/mL.

Reported precision is an Intra CV of 5.3% and Inter CV of 8.9%. Linearity across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions is given as 92-104%, 102-112%, 109-119% and 82-93% in serum; 104-114%, 94-105%, 102-115% and 109-119% in EDTA plasma; and 99-109%, 80-93%, 93-102% and 95-105% in heparin plasma. Mean recovery is 97% in serum (range 91-103%) and 99% in plasma (range 93-105%). The protocol uses 100 µL of standard, blank or sample per well, with optical density read at 450 nm.

MAG is a single-pass type I membrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily that mediates sialic-acid-dependent interactions between myelinating cells and neurons, binding neuronal gangliosides and the receptors RTN4R and RTN4RL2. It supports maintenance of myelinated axons and acts as a negative regulator of neurite outgrowth, preferentially binding alpha-2,3-linked sialic acid. UniProt reference: P20916.
