LSG1 (Lactamase-like protein 1) is a nucleolar GTPase involved in the maturation of the 60S ribosomal subunit, where it interacts with the 60S nuclear export factor NMD3 during ribosome biogenesis. Altered LSG1 expression has been reported in hepatocellular carcinoma and colorectal cancer, and biallelic LSG1 variants have been linked to autosomal recessive intellectual disability, making the assay useful for oncology biomarker discovery as well as studies of ribosome biogenesis disorders.
