Lecithin retinol acyltransferase (LRAT) is the microsomal enzyme responsible for esterifying all-trans-retinol to retinyl esters, a reaction that governs vitamin A storage in hepatic stellate cells and the regeneration of the visual chromophore 11-cis-retinal in retinal pigment epithelium. The Assay Genie Human LRAT ELISA Kit provides a quantitative immunoassay for measuring LRAT in human research samples, supporting studies of vitamin A metabolism, hepatic retinoid handling, and retinal disease biology including Leber congenital amaurosis and retinitis pigmentosa.
