Researchers in cardiometabolic disease, lipid metabolism, and mitochondrial membrane biology apply this Assay Genie colorimetric immunoassay to quantify endogenous Acyl-CoA:lysophosphatidylglycerol acyltransferase 1 (LPGAT1) protein in human blood-derived fractions. LPGAT1 is an endoplasmic reticulum membrane-bound enzyme that catalyzes the reacylation of lysophosphatidylglycerol to phosphatidylglycerol, a cardiolipin precursor central to mitochondrial membrane biogenesis. The enzyme shows clear preference for oleoyl-CoA and oleoyl-LPG as acyl donor and acceptor substrates respectively, and belongs to the 1-acyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase family.

Each kit ships as a complete reagent set in a 96 Assays microplate format with pre-coated plate, biotinylated detection antibody, recombinant standards, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash and dilution buffers, and TMB substrate. Readouts come from absorbance reading on a standard microplate reader, with LPGAT1 concentration interpolated from a standard curve. The pre-coated plate is intended for single use once wells are loaded.

Reagents should be stored refrigerated and protected from light between uses. Validation showed no significant cross-reactivity between LPGAT1 and related analogues, supporting specific quantification of the target enzyme in human samples. The LPGAT1 gene maps to chromosomal locus 1q32 and encodes an integral multi-pass membrane protein associated with the endoplasmic reticulum membrane compartment.
