The Human Lp-PLA2/PLA2G7/PAF-AH PharmaGenie ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is a colorimetric, 96-assay microplate immunoassay developed for quantitative detection of Lipoprotein-associated Phospholipase A2, a 45 kDa calcium-independent serine lipase encoded by the PLA2G7 gene on chromosome 6p12.3 that hydrolyzes the sn-2 acetyl group of platelet-activating factor. The enzyme circulates predominantly bound to LDL particles in the bloodstream and serves as an established biomarker of vascular inflammation and cardiovascular risk. The kit measures protein levels in human plasma, serum specimens, and cell culture supernatant samples, supporting research in atherosclerosis, plaque vulnerability, and inflammatory disease pathophysiology. Capture and detection antibodies are paired against the human Lp-PLA2 protein, with reactivity specific to the human PLA2G7 gene product; cross-reactivity with mouse, rat, or other mammalian orthologues has not been validated in the included protocol.
