Quantitative measurement of LIM domain kinase 2 (LIMK2) supports research into cytoskeletal remodeling and intracellular signaling cascades. LIMK2 phosphorylates cofilin at Ser3, blocking cofilin's actin-depolymerizing activity and thereby stabilizing filamentous actin networks. Dysregulated LIMK2 expression has been documented in metastatic breast carcinoma, glioblastoma, and prostate adenocarcinoma, making quantitative protein tracking valuable for oncology laboratories profiling tumor progression.

The kit is also relevant to neuroscience studies of dendritic spine morphogenesis and to immunology research on T-cell receptor signaling, where LIMK2 modulates actin polymerization at the immunological synapse.
