Laminin subunit alpha-2, the polypeptide chain that assembles into laminin-2 (merosin), is a key glycoprotein of the skeletal muscle basement membrane and other basal laminae. The Assay Genie Human LAMA2 ELISA Kit is built for quantitative measurement of this target in human serum or plasma specimens. Researchers working on neuromuscular and connective-tissue biology apply the kit to studies of congenital muscular dystrophy type 1A (MDC1A), where LAMA2 deficiency disrupts the muscle-fiber extracellular matrix, as well as investigations of peripheral nerve, kidney, and placental basement-membrane biology. Configured for 96 Assays in a microplate layout, the assay supports routine benchtop plate readers used in translational workflows that connect cell or animal model findings to circulating human biomarker levels. Human-specific reactivity makes it appropriate for clinical-research cohorts including dystrophic patients, carriers, and matched controls. Beyond muscular dystrophy research, the kit is used in studies of laminin-mediated cell adhesion, basement-membrane remodeling after tissue injury, and biomarker discovery programs in neuromuscular disease. Reagent components should be kept refrigerated and protected from light, and equilibrated to room temperature before each run to maintain consistent binding kinetics across the plate.
