Human Lactotransferrin (LTF) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie offers a Sandwich ELISA Kit designed for the quantitative detection of human lactotransferrin (LTF), a multifunctional protein of the transferrin family with antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, and iron-binding properties. The product is intended for research use only.

Validated for use with human samples, the assay is compatible with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, and specifically recognizes natural and recombinant human lactotransferrin. Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.78–50 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.052 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.3% and inter-assay CV is 7.5%. Linearity has been evaluated in serum (N=5, ranging from 105–125% across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions), EDTA plasma (104–117%), and heparin plasma (89–114%). Recovery averages 96% in serum (range 90–102%) and 98% in plasma (range 92–104%).

The target, lactotransferrin (UniProt P02788; NCBI Gene ID 4057), is a secreted monomer with a molecular weight of 73,161 Da. The isoform DeltaLf can act as a transcription factor with antiproliferative properties, binding the DeltaLf response element found in the SKP1, BAX, DCPS, and SELENOH promoters. The kit supports research in areas such as cancer, where dysregulation of lactotransferrin is a biomarker of interest in inflammation, infection, and tumor biology.
