The L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM, CD171) is a 200-220 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It mediates neuronal migration, axon guidance, and synaptic stabilization during nervous system development, while proteolytic shedding of its extracellular domain releases a soluble fragment that circulates systemically. Loss-of-function mutations in the human L1CAM gene cause L1 syndrome, an X-linked neurological condition with hydrocephalus as a hallmark feature, and dysregulated L1CAM expression has been documented in multiple solid tumor types where it influences cell motility and prognosis.

This quantitative immunoassay kit from Assay Genie enables laboratories to measure soluble L1CAM concentrations in human serum-type specimens, plasma preparations, and tissue homogenate fractions. Each kit is supplied in a 96 assays configuration with the components required for ELISA-based quantification, including a capture-antibody-coated microplate and detection reagents for plotting a standard curve. The format is intended for research use only and supports in vitro workflows in neurobiology, oncology biomarker discovery, and cell adhesion research. Components are stored refrigerated and protected from light to preserve activity through the lot-specific shelf life noted on the accompanying certificate of analysis.
