The Assay Genie Human KRT12 ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of Keratin 12, a type I cytokeratin specifically expressed in the differentiated corneal epithelium and widely investigated in ophthalmology research. Mutations in KRT12 are causally linked to Meesmann epithelial corneal dystrophy, making this immunoassay useful for studies of corneal barrier function, epithelial differentiation, and ocular surface disease. The assay uses a human-specific capture antibody pair, minimizing cross-reactivity with non-human homologues and supporting work in cell culture models of corneal keratinocyte biology. Reconstituted standards and detection antibody should be stored at -20°C, and the microplate and remaining kit components should be kept refrigerated to preserve binding activity.
