KIF20A (Kinesin Family Member 20A), also known as MKlp2, is a mitotic kinesin motor protein that orchestrates late-stage cytokinesis, Golgi reorganization during mitosis, and central spindle microtubule dynamics. The protein interacts with Rab6 GTPase and is regulated by CDK1 phosphorylation, with peak expression occurring during M phase. Dysregulated KIF20A has been reported in melanoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, glioma, bladder cancer, and lung adenocarcinoma, and it has been explored as a target for peptide-based immunotherapy in KRAS-mutant lung cancer.

The Assay Genie KIF20A immunoassay kit provides a quantitative readout for endogenous human KIF20A protein in tissue homogenates and other laboratory sample preparations using an absorbance-based endpoint readable on a standard microplate reader. Supplied in a 96-test format, the kit includes pre-coated plates, recombinant protein standards, detection antibody, and substrate needed to run the full assay workflow in vitro.

Sample preparation follows standard homogenization or lysis protocols, and the procedure supports comparison of KIF20A expression across tumor biopsies, cultured cell lines, and experimental treatment cohorts. Applications include cytokinesis biology, anti-mitotic drug screening, mitotic checkpoint studies, Golgi dynamics research, and oncology biomarker discovery. Intended for research use only, the kit is compatible with standard laboratory plate readers and supports data collection in cell division, motor protein, and tumor biology research programs.
