The Human KIF3A ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is a quantitative immunoassay for measuring Kinesin Family Member 3A, the kinesin heavy chain subunit of the heterotrimeric Kinesin-2 motor complex that drives anterograde intraflagellar transport and supports ciliogenesis, Sonic Hedgehog pathway activity, and polarized vesicular trafficking in neuronal, epithelial, and photoreceptor cell types.

Unopened components are stored at 4 degrees C, while reconstituted standards and detection antibody should be aliquoted and held at -20 degrees C with limited freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity. Each microplate supplies strip wells pre-coated with anti-KIF3A capture antibody, biotinylated detection reagent, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, TMB substrate, wash buffer, and recombinant human KIF3A standards calibrated against a multi-point standard curve. The protocol accommodates a 50 uL sample volume per well run in duplicate, with intra-assay precision generally under 10% for research use only applications in basic and translational laboratories.

Detection antibody specificity is restricted to the human KIF3A ortholog, with no significant cross-reactivity observed with KIF3B, KIF3C, or the broader kinesin superfamily under standard conditions. Researchers investigating ciliopathies, hedgehog-driven tumor biology, photoreceptor degeneration, or neuronal cargo transport may apply this kit to human biofluid specimens collected as either serum or anticoagulated plasma, as well as conditioned media from cultured cell lines. Output values are reported in ng/mL, allowing direct comparison across patient cohorts, treatment arms, or developmental time points in studies of ciliary function and signaling pathway activity.
