Description

A Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie for the quantitative detection of human Keratinocyte Growth Factor (FGF7), a heparin-binding member of the FGF family involved in keratinocyte proliferation, wound healing, tissue repair and skin development, and implicated in conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and various cancers. The assay is intended for use with human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and recognises natural and recombinant human Fibroblast growth factor 7 with a reported detection range of 31.2–2000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 7.5 pg/mL.

Performance characteristics include an intra-assay CV of 4.7% and an inter-assay CV of 8.9%. Spike-and-recovery in serum averaged 97% (range 91–103%) and in plasma 99% (range 93–105%). Dilutional linearity across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions was demonstrated for serum (101–111%, 105–115%, 107–116%, 91–101%), EDTA plasma (103–114%, 86–98%, 88–98%, 104–115%) and heparin plasma (89–98%, 110–120%, 86–99%, 89–99%). FGF7 is described as a secreted cytokine (UniProt P21781, 11,520 Da) that interacts with FGFBP1 and FGFR2, with affinity increased by heparan sulfate glycosaminoglycans acting as coreceptors, and is also referred to by the synonyms KGF, HBGF-7 and FGF-7.
