The Human KCNJ3 ELISA Kit from Assay Genie targets the GIRK1 (Kir3.1) inward rectifier potassium channel subunit encoded by the KCNJ3 gene on chromosome 11q24.3. GIRK1 assembles into heterotetrameric channels with GIRK2, GIRK3, and GIRK4 subunits in atrial cardiomyocytes and throughout the hippocampus, thalamus, and ventral tegmental area, where GIRK currents mediate the inhibitory effects of acetylcholine, somatostatin, and other G_i/o-coupled neurotransmitter receptors. Quantitative measurement of KCNJ3 protein is therefore valuable in cardiac arrhythmia studies, atrial fibrillation investigations, and neuroscience research on dopaminergic and cholinergic signaling pathways.

The microplate is supplied pre-coated with capture antibody specific to human GIRK1, together with biotinylated detection antibody, lyophilized recombinant standard, TMB substrate, wash concentrate, and stop solution. Human liquid specimens collected under standard venipuncture protocols are validated, with a 100 uL sample volume added per well. Unopened kit components should be stored refrigerated at 4 degrees C; reconstituted standards and unused strip wells can be frozen at -20 degrees C and tolerate multiple freeze-thaw cycles while retaining antibody binding activity.

For research use only, this ELISA supports in vitro quantification workflows complementary to western blot, PCR, and immunohistochemistry validation, allowing cardiovascular and neurological research teams to standardize KCNJ3 expression measurements across patient cohorts and experimental models.
