Human IZUMO1/Izumo sperm-egg fusion 1 ELISA Kit

Assay Genie offers a Sandwich ELISA, Double Antibody immunoassay kit for the in vitro quantitative determination of Human IZUMO1 (Izumo sperm-egg fusion 1) concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. The kit is reactive with human samples, is intended for research use only, and should be stored at 4°C for 6 months.

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the assay has a sensitivity of 9.375 pg/mL and a range of 15.625–1000 pg/mL. Recovery in spiked matrices was demonstrated in serum (86–103%, average 92%), EDTA plasma (88–102%, average 92%) and UFH plasma (91–103%, average 98%). Linearity was assayed by testing serial dilutions of spiked samples. Intra-assay precision is reported as CV<8% and inter-assay as CV<10%.

IZUMO1 (Izumo sperm-egg fusion protein 1, also called OBF, Oocyte binding/fusion factor, or Sperm-specific protein izumo) belongs to the Izumo family and is involved in the fertilization process, where it may be required for fusion of the sperm with the egg. The UniProt entry Q8IYV9 lists it as an integral membrane component of the plasma membrane, with roles in cell adhesion, fusion of sperm to egg plasma membrane, single fertilization and sperm-egg recognition.
