Human Izumo sperm-egg fusion protein 1 (IZUMO1) ELISA Kit

A high-quality sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is intended for the quantitative measurement of human Izumo sperm-egg fusion protein 1 (IZUMO1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit uses a colorimetric detection method and is for research use only.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 15.6-1000pg/mL, a sensitivity of 10pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.1%, and an inter-assay CV of 8.6%. Linearity across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 is documented, alongside recovery values of 98% (range 92-104%) for serum and 100% (range 94-106%) for plasma. The kit is specific for natural and recombinant human IZUMO1 (UniProt Q8IYV9), and the target protein has a reported molecular weight of 7,339 Da.

IZUMO1 is an essential sperm cell-surface protein required for fertilization, acting as a ligand for the IZUMO1R/JUNO receptor on the egg; the IZUMO1:IZUMO1R/JUNO interaction is a necessary adhesion event between sperm and egg that is required for fertilization but is not sufficient for cell fusion. The protein is also known by the synonyms Oocyte binding/fusion factor, Sperm-specific protein izumo, and OBF.
