IYD (iodotyrosine deiodinase), also known as DEHAL1, is an approximately 33 kDa FMN-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the reductive dehalogenation of mono- and di-iodotyrosines, thereby recycling iodide for thyroid hormone synthesis within the follicular cells of the thyroid gland. Loss-of-function mutations in the IYD gene cause iodotyrosine deiodinase deficiency, a form of congenital hypothyroidism that can present with goiter, intellectual disability, and persistent hypothyroid symptoms despite standard levothyroxine therapy. This Assay Genie kit enables researchers to quantify circulating IYD protein in clinical samples, supporting investigations into thyroid pathophysiology, iodide recycling disorders, and endocrinology. The microplate is pre-coated with a human-specific capture antibody, and the included reagents are configured for a complete ELISA workflow. Components should be stored refrigerated, and the kit is supplied for research use only, not for diagnostic applications.
