Integrin subunit alpha 2 (ITGA2), the collagen-binding receptor also known as CD49b or GPIa, can be quantified in human specimens using this Assay Genie PharmaGenie immunoassay. The α2β1 heterodimer formed by ITGA2 with the integrin beta-1 subunit mediates platelet adhesion to collagen and supports extracellular matrix interactions relevant to fibrosis research, tumor cell invasion studies, and investigations of thrombotic mechanisms.

The 96-assay plate configuration ships as a complete reagent set including pre-coated wells, matched capture and detection antibodies, dilution buffer, wash concentrate, and a chromogenic substrate for absorbance-based readout at the end of the run. A lyophilized standard series supports construction of a calibration curve for interpolating ITGA2 concentrations across the assay working range, and the kit is supplied with a sealed protocol insert. Reagents should be equilibrated to room temperature before opening individual vials, and stored at the temperature conditions printed on each component label.

Compatible specimen types include clarified cell culture supernatant from adherent or suspension lines, citrated or EDTA plasma, and serum prepared by standard clotting protocols. Researchers examining integrin expression changes during epithelial-mesenchymal transition, characterizing melanoma or breast carcinoma cell line behavior, or monitoring hepatic stellate cell activation in liver fibrosis models have used this antibody pair against the ITGA2 ectodomain. The kit is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic procedures.
