IDI1 is a peroxisomal enzyme that catalyzes the interconversion of isopentenyl pyrophosphate and dimethylallyl pyrophosphate, a key step in isoprenoid biosynthesis and the mevalonate pathway leading to cholesterol and dolichol production. Researchers studying lipid metabolism, peroxisomal disorders, statin pharmacology, or cholesterol biosynthesis rely on quantitative measurement of IDI1 protein abundance in human clinical and experimental specimens.

This Assay Genie competitive immunoassay ships as a complete microplate kit. The competitive binding principle suits small protein targets where two-site immunoassay formats are difficult to validate, which is often the case for IDI1 because the enzyme is relatively small and intracellular. Sample antigen competes with a coated reference antigen for binding to a labelled antibody, so the chromogenic signal is inversely proportional to IDI1 concentration in the well.

Each kit supplies reagents for the full microplate layout along with a printed protocol booklet. Working dilutions should be prepared fresh on the day of use; reserve unused strips in the resealed foil pouch with desiccant. Allow the sealed plate pouch to equilibrate to room temperature before opening to prevent condensation on the strip wells. Dilute specimens into the provided assay buffer before loading to minimize matrix interference on the competitive binding curve, and run all calibrators and unknowns in duplicate or triplicate.

Typical applications include profiling IDI1 expression in hepatoma cell lines, tracking enzyme abundance in metabolic-disease cohorts, characterizing peroxisomal function across human biopsy specimens, and screening candidate small-molecule modulators of the mevalonate pathway. For research use only, not for diagnostic procedures.
