Human Interleukin-9 (IL-9) ELISA Kit

A Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of human Interleukin-9 (IL-9) using a colorimetric detection method. The assay is reactive with human samples and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit is specific for natural and recombinant human Interleukin-9 and is intended for research use only within immunology applications.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 31.2-2000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 10pg/mL. Intra-assay precision is 6.5% CV and inter-assay precision is 11.2% CV. Recovery in serum averages 103% (range 97-109%) and in plasma 105% (range 99-111%). Linearity in serum at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions spans 97-109%, 104-114%, 81-91% and 92-102%; EDTA plasma shows 107-120%, 106-114%, 107-117% and 94-103%; heparin plasma shows 104-114%, 107-117%, 104-104% and 101-113%.

IL-9 is a secreted cytokine (UniProt P15248, molecular weight 15kDa) that supports IL-2-independent and IL-4-independent growth of helper T-cells and belongs to the IL-7/IL-9 family. It is encoded by the IL9 gene at chromosomal region 5q31.1 (NCBI Gene ID 3578). Reported molecular functions include growth factor activity, interleukin-9 receptor binding and cytokine activity, with associated biological processes of positive regulation of cell proliferation, immune response, inflammatory response, positive regulation of cell growth and positive regulation of interleukin-5 biosynthetic process. The protein has been identified as a candidate gene for asthma, with mouse studies implicating it in the pathogenesis of bronchial hyperresponsiveness.
