Description

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit provides quantitative measurement of human Intercellular Adhesion Molecule 4 (ICAM-4) using a colorimetric detection method. The assay is specific for natural and recombinant human ICAM-4 and is intended for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids.

ICAM-4 is a cell adhesion molecule belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily and the ICAM family. It contributes to immune response and inflammatory processes through leukocyte adhesion and migration, and acts as a ligand for the leukocyte adhesion protein LFA-1 (integrin alpha-L/beta-2), as well as for alpha-4/beta-1 and alpha-V integrins. The protein is a single-pass type I membrane protein located on the cell membrane. Also known as Landsteiner-Wiener blood group glycoprotein, LW blood group protein, CD242, and LW, ICAM-4 is associated with the Landsteiner-Wiener blood group system. Abnormal ICAM-4 levels have been linked to autoimmune disorders and inflammatory conditions, and the protein is studied within cancer research as a potential biomarker.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 3.12-200 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.78 ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 5.9% and inter-assay CV of 9.8%. Linearity was demonstrated in serum (80-119%), EDTA plasma (97-119%), and heparin plasma (82-114%) across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16. Recovery averaged 104% (98-110%) for serum and 106% (100-112%) for plasma. For research use only.
