Description

Colorimetric sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie for the quantitative measurement of human intercellular adhesion molecule 2 (ICAM-2, CD102) in biological samples. The assay is reactive with human samples and recognises both natural and recombinant human ICAM-2 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids.

Reported performance includes a detection range of 6.25-400 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 3.145 ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is 6.8% CV and inter-assay precision is 9.5% CV. Linearity was assessed across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 in serum (N=5) at 84-93%, 98-107%, 99-109% and 106-116%; in EDTA plasma (N=5) at 100-110%, 105-115%, 109-119% and 101-112%; and in heparin plasma (N=5) at 96-106%, 107-117%, 93-102% and 105-114%. Spike-and-recovery testing returned an average of 108% in serum (range 102-114%) and 110% in plasma (range 104-116%).

ICAM-2 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and ICAM family. It functions as a ligand for the leukocyte adhesion protein LFA-1 (integrin alpha-L/beta-2) and may play a role in lymphocyte recirculation by blocking LFA-1-dependent cell adhesion. The protein mediates interactions important for antigen-specific immune response, NK-cell mediated clearance, lymphocyte recirculation and immune surveillance. Dysregulation of ICAM-2 has been implicated in inflammatory diseases, autoimmune disorders and cancer metastasis. For research use only.
