ITIH5 (Inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor heavy chain 5) is a secreted glycoprotein belonging to the inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor family, where it participates in extracellular matrix stabilization, covalent binding to hyaluronic acid, and modulation of inflammatory cascades. This quantitative ELISA kit from Assay Genie enables sensitive measurement of human ITIH5 protein across diverse clinical and experimental specimen types.

ITIH5 has attracted substantial research interest as a candidate tumor suppressor in breast, colorectal, gastric, and lung malignancies, where promoter hypermethylation frequently silences its expression. Reduced ITIH5 levels have been linked to enhanced tumor invasiveness, metastatic potential, and unfavorable prognostic indicators, supporting its value as a biomarker in oncology studies, gene expression–protein correlation analyses, and investigations of inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor family biology in healthy versus diseased tissues.

The assay accommodates multiple human sample matrices, including serum specimens, plasma samples, tissue homogenate preparations, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatant fractions, allowing both clinical specimen analysis and cell-based experimental workflows. Each kit supplies sufficient reagents for 96 individual determinations and is intended for research use only, supporting applications such as biomarker profiling, disease mechanism studies, and pharmaceutical target validation in vitro.

For optimal reagent stability, components should be kept refrigerated upon arrival, protected from light, and used before the indicated kit expiration date. Standard laboratory infrastructure including a microplate reader capable of standard absorbance measurement and either automated or manual plate washing equipment is required to perform the assay.
