Intelectin-1 is a lectin that specifically recognizes microbial carbohydrate chains in a calcium-dependent manner and is thought to play a role in the defense system against microorganisms. The protein may also function as an adipokine that enhances insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in adipocytes and may be involved in iron metabolism. The assay has a detection range of 0.78-50ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.32ng/mL. Specificity covers natural and recombinant human Intelectin-1. Intra-assay CV is 5.2% and inter-assay CV is 8.8%. Linearity in serum ranges from 101-110% to 110-120% across dilutions 1:2 to 1:16; in EDTA plasma from 92-102% to 87-97%; and in heparin plasma from 88-101% to 106-116%. Recovery averages 101% (range 95-107%) in serum and 103% (range 97-109%) in plasma. For research use only.
