Integrin beta-7 is a cell-surface glycoprotein that pairs with integrin alpha-4 to form the alpha-4 beta-7 heterodimer, a gut-homing receptor for mucosal vascular addressin cell adhesion molecule 1 (MAdCAM-1) on intestinal endothelium. It also dimerizes with alpha-E (CD103) to form alpha-E beta-7, which binds E-cadherin on intestinal epithelial cells and marks tissue-resident regulatory and effector lymphocytes in mucosal sites.

Quantitation of circulating integrin beta-7 supports research into inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, graft-versus-host disease, and HIV mucosal transmission, where simian and human immunodeficiency viruses exploit alpha-4 beta-7 to enter gut CD4-positive T lymphocytes.

Provided by Assay Genie, the kit is supplied with a pre-coated microplate, detection antibody, standards, and substrate sufficient for 100 uL sample volume per well, with unused wells stored sealed in a desiccated pouch at 4 degrees C.
