Integrin beta-6 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that dimerizes with the alpha-V subunit and is predominantly expressed on epithelial cells, where it engages the RGD motif of fibronectin and the latency-associated peptide of TGF-beta1, contributing to wound healing, mucosal barrier function, and fibrotic remodeling in lung and oral tissues.
