The Insulin Receptor (INSR) is a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase encoded by the INSR gene on chromosome 19, where it mediates insulin signaling and downstream glucose uptake via GLUT4 translocation. This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie enables researchers in metabolic disease and oncology to measure INSR protein levels precisely, supporting studies of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and the IR-A isoform implicated in breast and other cancers. The plate-based workflow pairs matched capture and detection antibodies in a pre-coated microplate configuration, and the colorimetric readout can be quantified on a standard microplate reader; the assay is validated for human INSR detection with no significant cross-reactivity to the IGF-1 receptor. A typical sample volume is 100 uL per well of tissue homogenate, cell lysate, or supernatant, and unused strips should be refrigerated at 4 degrees C with desiccant until the kit expiration. Reagents are supplied in single-use vials to preserve antibody activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and the procedure is intended for research use only in vitro applications.
