Human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 5 (IGFBP5) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie supplies a Sandwich ELISA for the quantitative measurement of human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 5 (IGFBP5), also referenced as IBP-5 and IBP5. The kit is validated for human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids, and recognises natural and recombinant human IGFBP5 with the detection method described as ELISA.

Reported performance characteristics include a sensitivity of 45 pg/mL and a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL. Intra-assay precision is 4.7% CV and inter-assay precision is 7.8% CV. Linearity across serial dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16 was demonstrated for serum (85-119%), EDTA plasma (92-117%) and heparin plasma (98-113%). Recovery averages 103% in serum (range 97-109%) and 105% in plasma (range 99-111%).

IGF-binding proteins prolong the half-life of the IGFs and have been shown to either inhibit or stimulate the growth promoting effects of the IGFs on cell culture, altering the interaction of IGFs with their cell surface receptors. IGFBP5 is described as a key regulator of insulin-like growth factor signalling that influences cell growth and survival, with dysregulation implicated in diseases such as cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis, supporting its relevance as a potential therapeutic target within the Signal Transduction research area.
