Human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3 (IGFBP3) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative detection of human Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3 (IGFBP3), also known by the synonyms IBP-3 and IBP3. Intended for research use only, the kit is well suited to investigations in cancer biology, where IGFBP3 acts as a key regulator of insulin-like growth factor (IGF) signalling and influences cell growth, differentiation and survival.

The assay uses a colorimetric detection method with a reported detection range of 125–8000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 50 pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.5% and inter-assay CV is 7.5%. Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and the kit is specific for natural and recombinant human IGFBP3. Reported linearity across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions is 80–92% to 100–109% for serum, 102–112% to 106–116% for EDTA plasma, and 102–111% to 103–113% for heparin plasma. Recovery averages 90% (84–96%) for serum and 92% (86–98%) for plasma.

Functionally, IGFBP3 prolongs the half-life of IGFs, modulates IGF-mediated growth effects on cultured cells, and exhibits IGF-independent antiproliferative and apoptotic activity mediated through its receptor TMEM219/IGFBP-3R. The protein is secreted and circulates in plasma as a ternary complex with IGF1 or IGF2 and the acid-labile subunit.
