Insulin Degrading Enzyme (IDE) is a 110 kDa zinc metalloprotease that cleaves insulin and amyloid-beta peptide, and this quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie enables its measurement in human research samples. The kit supports studies in type 2 diabetes, neurodegeneration, and amyloid clearance, where IDE levels in patient-derived biofluids and tissues are correlated with disease state and treatment response.

The kit ships as a complete package containing one pre-coated microplate, capture and detection antibodies, HRP enzyme conjugate, TMB substrate, stop solution, wash buffer, and a set of calibrated standards. Sample and standard are added to the pre-coated wells, incubated, washed, then detection antibody is added, followed by another wash, substrate development, stop solution, and absorbance readout on a standard plate reader. The full workflow from sample addition to final reading fits within a single working day, making the protocol practical for routine batch processing.

Sample types accommodated include tissue homogenate preparations, serum-type samples, plasma-type samples, and other related biofluids such as cell culture supernatants. Each kit is provided in a single-use microplate format, sufficient for one full plate run. Components should be kept refrigerated per the kit manual to preserve reagent activity through the stated shelf life, and the plate should be equilibrated to room temperature before opening the sealed pouch to prevent condensation on the wells.

Assay Genie supplies this kit for research use only, intended for laboratory investigation of IDE expression in human samples, with applications spanning metabolic disease, neurodegeneration, and amyloid clearance research.
