Importin alpha 2, also known as KPNA2 or SRP1-alpha, is a karyopherin family nuclear transport receptor that mediates classical NLS-dependent cargo import across the nuclear envelope. The Assay Genie immunoassay kit enables quantitative measurement of this protein in human samples for research into nuclear transport biology and disease-associated dysregulation.

KPNA2 has attracted extensive biomedical investigation as a candidate biomarker. Published studies have linked elevated KPNA2 expression to multiple malignancies including breast carcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and cervical cancer, where altered nucleocytoplasmic transport contributes to tumor progression. Research applications include investigation of viral nuclear import mechanisms, mitotic regulation, and embryonic development, alongside cancer biomarker validation studies that pair plasma measurements with immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis of matched tissue specimens.

The kit is supplied as a complete pack containing pre-coated microplate wells, biotinylated detection antibody, enzyme conjugate, protein standards, and wash buffer sufficient for 96 individual determinations. Researchers run the assay on a standard microplate reader measuring absorbance, with results expressed as concentration values derived from a standard curve. Each vial of standard and detection reagent is intended for single use after reconstitution, and the reagents quantify KPNA2 in human cell culture supernatant, plasma, and serum specimens. Intended for research use only in laboratory settings.
