Description

A sandwich-format immunoassay from Assay Genie for the quantitative measurement of human Immunoglobulin alpha Fc receptor (FCAR), also referred to as CD89, in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit uses a colorimetric detection method and is supplied for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL, a sensitivity of 41pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 8.3% and an inter-assay CV of 9.6%. Dilution linearity in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma (N=5) is reported across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions, with serum values of 101-113%, 86-95%, 89-99% and 110-120%. Recovery averages 92% in serum (range 86-98%) and 94% in plasma (range 88-100%).

FCAR is a member of the immunoglobulin gene superfamily and encodes a receptor for the Fc region of IgA. The transmembrane glycoprotein is expressed on myeloid lineage cells such as neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages and eosinophils, where it mediates immunologic responses to pathogens, including phagocytosis, antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity and the release of inflammatory mediators. It binds to the Fc region of immunoglobulins alpha and mediates several functions including cytokine production. The target corresponds to UniProt entry P24071.
