Human IL-8 ELISA Kit (HUEB0029)

From Assay Genie comes a sandwich ELISA kit for the quantitative measurement of human Interleukin-8 (IL-8/CXCL8) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. The kit uses a colorimetric detection method, with absorbance measured at 450 nm following addition of substrate and stop solution. Standards and samples are incubated in pre-coated microplate wells; after incubation with detection reagents and TMB substrate, a color change develops in proportion to IL-8 concentration and is quantified against a standard curve.

The detection range is 15.6–1000 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 3.9 pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 6.3%, and an inter-assay CV of 8.6%. The antibody pair is specific for natural and recombinant human Interleukin-8. Recovery in serum averages 99% (range 93–105%) and in plasma averages 98% (range 94–106%), with linearity over 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions of 91–109% in serum, 89–106% in EDTA plasma, and 93–108% in heparin plasma. The kit is intended for research use only.

IL-8 is a chemotactic factor that attracts neutrophils, basophils, and T-cells but not monocytes, and is also involved in neutrophil activation. It is released from several cell types in response to an inflammatory stimulus and is a member of the CXC chemokine family, recognized as a major mediator of the inflammatory response.
