Human IL-4 ELISA Kit (HUEB0027)

A Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of human Interleukin-4 (IL-4). The kit recognizes natural and recombinant human IL-4 and is intended for research use only within the immunology field. IL-4, also known as B-cell stimulatory factor 1, Binetrakin, Lymphocyte stimulatory factor 1, Pitrakinra, or BSF-1, is a secreted cytokine belonging to the IL-4/IL-13 family (UniProt P05112).

The assay has a detection range of 31.2-2000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 7.8pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.9% and inter-assay CV is 7.9%. Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. Reported linearity values across dilutions 1:2 to 1:16 are 105-115% to 110-120% for serum, 99-110% to 117-127% for EDTA plasma, and 88-88% to 89-98% for heparin plasma. Recovery averages 96% (range 90-102%) for serum and 98% (range 92-104%) for plasma.

Functionally, IL-4 participates in B-cell activation processes and acts as a costimulator of DNA synthesis. It induces class II MHC molecule expression on resting B-cells, enhances IgE and IgG1 secretion and cell surface expression, and regulates the low affinity Fc receptor for IgE (CD23) on both lymphocytes and monocytes.
