The IL-33 analyte targeted by this Assay Genie reagent is a dual-function interleukin: in healthy epithelia and endothelial cells it remains chromatin-bound in the nucleus as a transcriptional regulator, but upon cellular damage or mechanical stress it is released as an extracellular alarmin that signals through the ST2 (IL1RL1) receptor on mast cells, Th2 lymphocytes, group 2 innate lymphoid cells, and regulatory T cells. That dual biology makes IL-33 measurement valuable in research on asthma and allergic rhinitis, helminth immunity, cardiac remodeling after myocardial infarction, inflammatory bowel disease, and tumor-associated inflammation in the tumor microenvironment.

Standard calibration spans 31.2 to 2000 pg/mL for quantitative comparison across diluted specimens, and the assay is intended for research use only. Components should be kept refrigerated; allow frozen aliquots to thaw fully before first use.
