Human Hydroxymethylbilane Synthase (HMBS) ELISA Kit

Hydroxymethylbilane synthase (HMBS), also known as porphobilinogen deaminase (PBGD) or uroporphyrinogen I synthase, catalyzes the third step of heme biosynthesis. Partial deficiency of this enzyme causes acute intermittent porphyria (AIP), so quantitative HMBS measurement supports research in porphyria, hepatic heme metabolism, and erythroid differentiation studies. This Assay Genie kit uses a human-specific capture antibody, a biotinylated detection antibody, and a streptavidin-HRP conjugate read on a standard microplate reader. The assay is supplied as a complete kit with a pre-coated microplate, biotin antibody, HRP-streptavidin, standards, and buffer reagents. Researchers typically load 100 uL of sample per well, and the absorbance signal is proportional to HMBS concentration. Reagents should be refrigerated on arrival and protected from light; reconstituted standards should be aliquoted and stored frozen to minimize freeze-thaw degradation.
