The Human HSD17B2 ELISA Kit from Assay Genie quantifies 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2, a key enzyme that inactivates estradiol, testosterone, and dihydrotestosterone by converting these potent steroid hormones into their weaker keto-forms (estrone, androstenedione, and 5α-androstanedione, respectively). Because HSD17B2 expression modulates local estrogen and androgen signaling, researchers apply this kit to studies of hormone-dependent cancers (breast, prostate, and endometrial carcinoma), placental function and pre-eclampsia, endometriosis, and the metabolic fate of glucocorticoids in peripheral tissues.

Each kit is supplied with a pre-coated microplate, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, standard calibrators, and wash and substrate buffers sufficient for 96 determinations. Store unopened components refrigerated at 4 °C, allow reagents to equilibrate to room temperature before use, and limit prepared standards to no more than three freeze-thaw cycles to preserve immunoreactivity.
