11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 (HSD11B2) is a NAD+-dependent microsomal enzyme that converts active cortisol into inactive cortisone, safeguarding mineralocorticoid receptors from inappropriate glucocorticoid activation in tissues such as the distal nephron, salivary glands, and placenta. This colorimetric ELISA Kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of HSD11B2 in human research specimens and is formatted to run 96 Assays per microplate.

Research use cases. Investigators studying preeclampsia, apparent mineralocorticoid excess syndrome, essential hypertension, placental glucocorticoid metabolism, renal sodium handling, and fetal programming use quantitative HSD11B2 readouts to correlate enzyme levels with physiological and disease phenotypes. The kit's reactivity profile targets human samples and supports studies in endocrinology, nephrology, and reproductive biology laboratories.

Assay workflow. The microplate arrives pre-coated with capture antibody and the workflow follows a two-antibody capture format with a colorimetric endpoint read on a standard plate reader. A recombinant standard curve is used to interpolate unknown concentrations, and reconstituted reagents should be stored as described in the package insert to preserve activity across all 96 Assays. The kit is intended for research use only.

Kit contents and handling. Standard components include pre-coated wells, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, recombinant standards, wash buffer, substrate, and stop solution. Allow all reagents to equilibrate to room temperature before use and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles for aliquoted reagents to maintain performance over the full plate run.
