Human Hexokinase-1 (HK1) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this colorimetric Sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative determination of human Hexokinase-1 (HK1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay recognises natural and recombinant human Hexokinase-1 and is supplied for research use only.

Hexokinase 1 catalyses the first committed step of glycolysis by phosphorylating D-glucose to D-glucose 6-phosphate. The same enzyme also phosphorylates D-glucosamine, D-fructose, D-mannose and 2-deoxy-D-glucose, but does not act on N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. HK1 has been implicated in cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders and has been reported to act as a pattern recognition receptor for bacterial peptidoglycan, with a role in regulating the NLRP3 inflammasome.

According to the manufacturer, the kit provides a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 39 pg/mL. Intra-assay precision is 3.5% (CV) and inter-assay precision 9.7% (CV). Linearity for serum ranges from 84-96% (1:2 dilution) to 101-113% (1:16 dilution), with EDTA plasma and heparin plasma also validated across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions. Recovery in serum averages 98% (range 92-104%) and in plasma averages 100% (range 94-106%). The target protein has a reported molecular weight of 101,085 Da (UniProt P19367; NCBI Gene ID 3098).
