HEXIM2 is a transcriptional regulator that, together with the 7SK snRNA, sequesters positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb) and thereby controls RNA polymerase II elongation.

Disruption of the HEXIM2-P-TEFb axis has been linked to pathological stress responses and altered transcriptional programs, so accurate measurement of HEXIM2 supports work on elongation control, stress signaling, and disease modeling.
