Human Hephaestin (HEPH) ELISA Kit

A colorimetric Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of human Hephaestin (HEPH) in serum and plasma samples. The manufacturer datasheet also lists tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids as compatible sample types. The assay is intended for research use only and is classified under the Signal Transduction research area.

Performance characteristics quoted by the manufacturer include a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL, a sensitivity of 31pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.3% and an inter-assay CV of 9.7%. Linearity has been evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. Reported recovery averages 91% (range 85-97%) in serum and 93% (range 87-99%) in plasma.

The kit shows specificity for natural and recombinant human Hephaestin. Hephaestin is a single-pass type I membrane protein and a member of the multicopper oxidase family; it may function as a ferroxidase, converting ferrous (II) to ferric (III) ions, and may be involved in copper transport and homeostasis, potentially mediating iron efflux associated with ferroportin 1.
