Description

Designed by Assay Genie for the quantitative measurement of Human Heparin-binding growth factor 1 (FGF1), this Sandwich ELISA kit is intended for research use only. The assay is reactive with human samples and is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 62.5-4000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 21 pg/mL. Intra-assay precision is 4.7% CV, with inter-assay precision at 6.8% CV. Linearity was evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16, yielding ranges of 106-118%, 88-100%, 97-107%, and 92-103% in serum; 109-119%, 110-120%, 92-101%, and 106-117% in EDTA plasma; and 106-117%, 85-97%, 100-111%, and 89-99% in heparin plasma. Average recovery is 95% (89-101%) in serum and 97% (91-103%) in plasma. The kit specifically detects natural and recombinant human Fibroblast growth factor 1.

FGF1, also referred to as acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF), endothelial cell growth factor, heparin-binding growth factor 1, ECGF, HBGF-1, or FGFA, is involved in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, angiogenesis, cell differentiation, and cell migration. It functions as a potent mitogen in vitro, acts as a ligand for FGFR1 and integrins, and can induce angiogenesis. These properties make it a relevant biomarker for studies of tissue repair, development, and tumor progression (UniProt P05230).
